Why Components are the MVP of Canva Create 2026
Last updated: 18 May 2026
This year, Canva Create 2026 took things to a whole new level. While the headlines were full of Canva AI 2.0 and the massive SoFi Stadium event, our team has been loving a new feature that is arguably much more powerful for businesses. That is Canva Components.
If you’ve ever found yourself manually updating the same footer across 50 different social media templates, hunting down and replacing an old logo on every single piece of promotional material or updating an earlybird price on a dozen different event flyers, this update is about to transform the way you work
We’ve all been there: that moment of realisation that a tiny change now requires hours of tedious clicking. With Canva Components, that work is a thing of the past.
The star of the show was Canva Components
Our team is unanimous. Components are the single best thing to come out of Canva Create 2026. The philosophy is simple: Build once, use everywhere.
What are Components?
In the past, a call-to-action (CTA) button, a header, or a logo-and-tagline combo was just a group of elements. If you copied that group into a new design and later changed your brand font, you had to manually find and update every single copy.
With the new Components feature, you create a source that acts as the master for the element. This flexibility allows you to manage consistency at two levels.
Components can live within a single design. This is perfect for synching headers and footers across a 50-page proposal. Or they can be saved directly to your Brand Kit. By saving them to your Brand Kit, you turn a local element into a global asset that the whole team can access and use across any project.
When you update the source, the changes apply through your entire library, ensuring your brand stays consistent at scale without the traditional manual bottleneck.
How it works in practice
When you’re designing, you’ll find your Components tucked neatly under your Brand Kit tab. The best part is that you stay in control of the automation.
When you update the Source component, Canva doesn't just overwrite everything without asking. You get to pick and choose which designs get the update by clicking the Update button within your file. You have the flexibility to update just one instance or every single one in the file at once. It’s the perfect balance of automation and creative control, ensuring that your layouts stay intact while your information stays current.
Why this is a game-changer for our clients
- Brand consistency: No more rogue old logos or outdated taglines floating around on page 4 of a PDF. Your brand stays unified across every touchpoint.
- Efficiency: We can build a library of branded UI elements (like buttons, team bios, and icons) for you that stay synced across your entire organisation. This removes the search-and-replace fatigue from your daily workflow.
- Scale: Large teams can now manage thousands of assets without the fear of manual errors. When a price changes or a brand refresh happens, it’s a single update rather than a week-long project.
This feature is for Canva Pro users, but Canva offers a free trial so it is well worth checking this out to see the time savings firsthand.
Beyond the design: Canva AI 2.0 and the Architecture Layer
While we love the practical tools, we can't ignore the wow factor of Canva AI 2.0. Architecture Layer and intelligent workflows move Canva from a simple design tool to a conversational design partner and virtual assistant.
Some of the standout additions include:
- Conversational Design: You can now turn one prompt into an entire campaign.
- Agentic Orchestration: Canva AI now learns from your team's specific style and preferences.
- Memory Library: You can edit individual elements in a design without having to start the design from scratch or change the rest of the design.
- Layered Object Intelligence: Reach into flat, static images and edit them, as if they were made up of individual elements.
Canva AI 2.0 also includes a suite of features that help with your day-to-day tasks and workflows:
- Code 2.0: You can now create HTML designs from a simple prompt and then edit them in Canva Editor.
- Connectors: This is a huge connectivity boost. You can now connect context from all your other apps, like Slack, and HubSpot, straight into Canva. You can even prompt the AI to summarise Slack discussions about a client meeting and instantly turn that context into finished, personalised designs.
- Web Research: Use research from the web in your designs.
- Scheduling: Schedule tasks to run automatically, even when you’re offline.
- Brand Intelligence: This uses your brand templates to create even more on-brand designs or turns existing designs into on-brand ones.
Designing on the go: Canva Offline
Another win for 2026 is Canva Offline. We’ve all been there: trying to finish a pitch deck on a flight or in a remote spot with patchy internet coverage, only to have the “Connection Lost” bar haunt your screen.
Canva has finally removed the internet barrier, allowing you to stay productive even when you’re off the grid. You can now:
- Edit your designs without a connection: The interface remains responsive even without Wi-Fi.
- Upload local images while offline: You can keep building your designs using assets on your device.
- Sync seamlessly: Everything syncs automatically the moment you’re back online, so your team always has the latest version.
This means your creative flow never has to stop, whether you’re travelling between meetings or working from a location with a less-than-reliable signal.
Other highlights included:
- The Print Shop: A reimagined e-commerce experience to get your digital designs onto physical products faster than ever.
- Learn Grid: A new home for educators with AI-powered lesson planning.
- Affinity integration: Deeper connections with professional tools like Affinity Designer, making the bridge between pro design and team collaboration even shorter.
