We need a standout key account manager to take charge of our top customer relationships. From there, you'll have a clear path to becoming our Head of Client Services.
Why this role exists (and why now)
For years, we’ve grown by letting our talented specialists own their client relationships directly. For a long time, it worked beautifully.
But as our client list has grown, we've spotted a weakness. When tools bog down our specialists, client relationships can suffer. Often, we don't catch it until it impacts the overall customer experience.
That’s why we’re introducing a dedicated Account Management layer.
We want our specialists to focus on what they do best: doing great work. We want you to manage client expectations, coordinate our internal teams, and make sure the right work happens, the right way, on time. All while delivering top-tier customer service.
What the day-to-day looks like
This is a brand-new account manager role, which means you have the autonomy to help shape it. As our first dedicated AM, you'll look after a portfolio of 10 to 15 high quality client accounts. This mix includes B2B RevOps retainers, government and not-for-profit accounts, and long-term DTC brands. (Note: a separate team handles our eCommerce performance accounts).
You will be the orchestrator. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Owning the room: Running weekly check-ins, monthly reviews, and quarterly strategy sessions. You set the agenda, present the results, and capture the actions.
- Leading the charge: Translating client priorities into actionable tasks for our high performance team using our project management tools. You’ll chase work proactively and escalate risks before the client ever notices them.
- Protecting the standard: Quality assuring outgoing deliverables (reports, decks, creative, ads) before they ever reach the client's inbox.
- Driving business growth: Acting as a bridge for business development, you'll partner with our sales team and Finance lead to ensure work delivered equals work billed. You’ll also identify upsell and retention opportunities. With an average client tenure of 3 years and an NPS of +84, the room to grow these accounts is very real.
Who we’re looking for
We aren’t looking for a rookie, and we aren't looking for someone who wants to coast. We need a non-negotiable agency veteran.
Here is what you bring to the table:
- Agency DNA: 5+ years of client-facing project or account management in a digital marketing agency. (In-house or non-agency PM experience won’t translate for this specific role).
- High EQ: You can read the room. You notice when a client is unhappy but not saying it. You notice when a specialist is quietly drowning.
- Technical literacy: You live in project tools like Teamwork, Asana, or ClickUp. You also have a strong enough working knowledge of paid media, email marketing, SEO, and web to scope projects, brief teams, and spot risks. You don't need to execute, but you need to know how to ask the right questions.
- Tech & AI forward: You embrace AI. We use AI across our delivery and operations, and we expect you to weave it into your workflow, too.
- A competitive edge: You get a buzz from hitting targets. We measure success using clear KPIs: client retention, NPS, upsell revenue, and project margin.
Bonus points if you have experience with HubSpot, Klaviyo, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, Shopify, or handling Government/NFP accounts.
