Refunds on existing Canva subscriptions

Before moving to Enterprise, most organisations are already paying for Canva several times over: individual Pro subscriptions on expenses, and team subscriptions bought by different departments. Some of that money can come back, but only one path is automatic and the other has a deadline attached to it.

Part of Setting up Canva Enterprise: how the rollout works, a guide from Refuel Creative for organisations moving to Canva Enterprise.

Before moving to Enterprise, most organisations are already paying for Canva several times over: individual Pro subscriptions on expenses, and team subscriptions bought by different departments. Some of that money can come back, but only one path is automatic and the other has a deadline attached to it.

When this applies: As soon as you have your user report, and well before any existing Canva plan renews.

Short answer: individual subscriptions are refunded automatically. Team subscriptions are not, and need to be claimed manually.

Individual users on their own plan

Handled by the platform. Canva's wording: "If a personal team is archived and the user joins a company-managed team, Canva will issue a pro-rated refund for any remaining time on their previous subscription."

Nobody needs to do anything for this to happen.

Teams with more than one member

Not automatic. The person who owns that team has to raise a ticket with Canva Support and select "I want to request a refund for my plan" under Payments.

Canva does not publish how long that review takes. Once a refund is approved, their published processing times are 5 to 10 business days for credit cards, 3 to 5 for PayPal, up to 20 business days for other methods, and up to 30 for eBanx.

Canva's standing position is that "In most cases, Canva subscriptions aren't refundable, as outlined in our Terms of Use", so treat approval as likely but not guaranteed.

Anything bought through the Apple App Store has to be refunded by Apple, not Canva.

If you have a renewal coming up, act now

This is the single most time-sensitive item in the whole rollout.

Identify the owners of any multi-member team subscriptions early, using your user report, and have them lodge their refund requests before the renewal date rather than waiting for the migration to reach them. A plan that auto-renews mid-migration is money you are unlikely to recover.

Tell us your renewal dates and we will sequence the rollout around them.
