How long a Canva Enterprise rollout takes

Canva publishes timings for two steps of an Enterprise rollout and nothing for the rest, which makes this question surprisingly hard to get answered. Here is a realistic end to end picture, with our estimates marked as ours.

Canva publishes timings for two steps of an Enterprise rollout and nothing for the rest, which makes this question surprisingly hard to get answered. Here is a realistic end to end picture, with our estimates marked as ours.

When this applies: Planning, before you commit to dates with your stakeholders.

Short answer: allow 8 to 10 weeks from the day you sign off your user list.

  • Get your user report. Your Canva account team. About 24 hours.
  • Review and sign off who is being migrated. You. One to two weeks.
  • Send your internal communication. You. One week, and it must land before verification.
  • Add DNS records and verify each domain. You. 24 to 72 hours per domain.
  • Configure and test single sign-on. Us, with your IT team. One to two days.
  • Choose and apply your login setting. Us, with your IT team. Same day.
  • Window for users to respond. Your people. Exactly 30 days, fixed.
  • Users copy content across. Your people. Four to six weeks, running alongside the 30 days.

What is fixed and what is not

Two of those numbers are Canva's, not ours. Domain verification "usually happens within 24 hours after adding the TXT record, but can take longer depending on DNS record cache expiry (TTL)", and DNS changes "may take up to 72 hours to update".

The 30 day window is fixed and cannot be shortened by anyone, including Canva. It is the floor on how fast this can go, and it is the reason an aggressive timeline does not help.

Everything else on that list depends on how quickly decisions get made on your side. In practice the user list review is what moves the date, because it usually surfaces questions nobody has had to answer before: which of these teams is the real one, who owns this subscription, why is this person not on the list.

Where the time actually goes

The technical work is small. Configuring single sign-on is a day or two. What takes weeks is agreeing who is in scope, getting comms approved, and waiting for people to act during their 30 days.

Plan accordingly: front-load the decisions, and do not book the verification date until the user list is signed off.
